As a global IT solutions provider, we look for every opportunity to work with environmentally-friendly clients, from green technology companies to green initiative companies. Recently, we've worked with a green technology company specializing in energy trading to develop a massive energy auction platform, part of which specialized in trading green products. We've also worked with a big name in green initiatives: the internationally-recognized Will Steger Foundation.
After our client, a green initiative company, purchased a competitor, we successfully performed mission-critical gap assessment. We also built out key functionality unique to the newly-acquired company's software in order to integrate the two platforms and added project management functionality.
Our favorite aspect of the project, however, was to upgrade the platform to handle green products in addition to a more traditional set of commodities. Green products included things such as public energy efficiency credits and emission reduction certificates.
The green movement isn't another flash-in-the-pan trend that will be gone in a few years. California has recently mandated that 33% of its energy be green by 2020, leading an aggressive charge by America to become a more environmentally-conscious country. We were thrilled when the Will Steger Foundation found us via Google and our search engine optimization efforts, then asked for software development prior to an expedition. Steger is a world-famous explorer and environmental activist; he has appeared in National Geographic as well as on the BBC. Our excitement grew when we learned that Sam Branson - son of billionaire and avid environmentalist Richard Branson - would be participating in the expedition as well.
The Steger Foundation approached us as they prepared for a journey to the North Pole, stating that they needed a way to update the world of their progress while on their journey. We developed a mobile application that allowed Steger and his team to perform real-time blogging from the heart of the Arctic Circle using a satellite phone.
Our CEO, Björn Stansvik, is an avid conservationalist. As a supporter of both the National Parks Conservation Association and the Friends of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, environmentalism is one of his true passions. Björn is an avid kayaker and outdoorsman with a great appreciation for green businesses.
