Blackberry Apps

Blackberry is one of the oldest and most successful smartphone platforms in existence having been initially released in 1999, the year to model all parties after (Prince, anyone?). Despite recent advances by the iPhone and Android, Blackberry still commands a large share of the market, particularly in the business world.

The Blackberry App World is the application distribution service by RIM that all Blackberry app developers must submit their apps to. While the sheer number of Blackberry apps available for download might not come close to the App Store or Google Play, the Blackberry App World has the largest revenue per app of the three major app stores. Additionally, the number of Blackberry apps downloaded per day has steadily increased since 2010, up by over 5 million. These two factors alone continue to position Blackberry application development as a worthwhile pursuit.
