Data Technology Lead – Contractor

A custom development company, MentorMate is a design and software powerhouse with mature and established practices in Enterprise Web & Mobile Development, Technical Architecture, Human-Centered Design, Cloud & DevOps, Advanced-Data Мanagement & Analytics. We are looking to hire a Data Technology Lead for our Data & Analytics Center of Excellence (DCOE).

As a Technology Lead in DCOE, your primary goal will be to offer non-standard solutions and unlock the potential of our clients. You will be responsible for developing scalable and high-performance reporting solutions and determining appropriate applications for data processing, storing, analysis and visualization.

Responsibilities
  • Owns all technical aspects of software development for assigned applications
  • Spends a significant amount of time writing code and testing, and the remainder of time collaborating with stakeholders through ongoing product/platform releases
  • Analyze, design, and architect big data solutions to support business needs.
  • Work with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows
  • Develop best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system.
  • Works with product owners to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and manages a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues.
  • Day-to-day communication with client team members, expert personnel, and subject matter experts
  • Participate in rapid, prototype-based design sessions
  • Troubleshoot and optimize data systems
Requirements
  • 3+ years as technology lead or similar
  • 7+ years of Data Warehouse/Data Lake Architecture and Development
  • 5+ years ETL, Data Modeling & Architecture
  • 5+ years of hands-on Databricks/Spark/NoSQL, SQL Databases, Streaming
  • 3+ years of hands-on Python & SQL
  • 3+ years of experience in AWS/Azure
  • 3+ years of hands-on git, CI/CD pipelines
  • In-depth knowledge of any of the popular database and data warehouse technologies from SQL & NoSQL realm - Redshift, DynamoDB, Oracle, Azure Synapse Analytics, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
  • Expert in database query execution and optimization techniques
  • Strong knowledge of systems development, including system development life cycle, project management approaches and requirements, design and testing techniques
  • Ability to think strategically and demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new technologies and concepts
  • Fluent in English
A significant advantage would be an experience with
  • Azure Business Intelligence Services (Power BI, Power BI Embedded, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse Analytics)
  • ETL tools like Airflow, Talend, Matillion, Informatica, ODI, SSIS
  • Hadoop ecosystem
  • Experience with Data Quality Tools, Monitoring and Alerting
