Cell Phone Software Development
Few mobile application development companies can say they started as early as we did. MentorMate was founded in 2001, and had its first mobile application - iQpakk - in users' hands less than a year after inception.
iQpakk is a mobile and web-integrated learning content management system that lets instructors create content and lesson plans for students to use on Palm handhelds, cell phones, and smartphones. It's been adopted by Century College - one of the largest community colleges in Minnesota - and two different Minnesota medical institutions as a means of:
- Learning new languages
- Mapping employee skills to patient needs
- Managing basic training
- Mobile learning content management
Mobile Web Application Development
After being presented with a mobile application development opportunity for the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Licensing Division, we responded to a Request for Proposal immediately and won the job.
MentorMate automated the Licensing Division's service provider inspection process by developing a system that allowed creation of electronic checklists rather than paper reports. The electronic forms were then uploaded onto mobile devices to ease the process for the inspectors. The only printouts from the electronic reports were the violation areas, as opposed to the old system that printed the entire report. By streamlining their process, we were able to save budget and timeline while initiating a more paperless workflow.
Another milestone for us was Ultralingua - a mobile, multi-lingual software application in 2006. What began as a small, web-based French-English dictionary has grown to include mobile integration and new features such as:
- Automated language implementation capability for software developers
- Grammar and spellchecking tools
- Online versions of the dictionaries
- A thematic encyclopedia
In today's world, you can't be mobile without being real-time. When the world-renowned Will Steger Foundation approached us with the need to document progress of an expedition online, we created an interface allowing the team to blog real-time from the heart of the North Pole.

Looking Ahead: Blackberry, Google Android & iPhone Application Development
Blackberry Application Development

iPhone Application Development
To stay ahead of the curve in today's world of smartphones, we're working on an application - LocationMate - for the iPhone and Google Android. LocationMate uses GPS functionality, allowing users to send their location to a server. Guests on this server can see an interactive map of where the user is and where he or she has been.
We always want the next big thing. We're looking forward to multiple projects using the iPhone, Google Android, and Blackberry in the future. If you've got more questions for us, call us: 612-217-2575, or fill out our contact form. We're always eager to talk about mobile application development!
