MentorMate Achieves SOC 2 Type II Certification After a nine month long journey, we’re thrilled to announce a major milestone in maturing our security and data privacy capabilities. Minneapolis, MN, 03.22.2021 /PRNEWS/ — Custom software development firm MentorMate announced today that it has successfully completed the SOC 2 Type II certification process. Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), SOC 2 Type II outlines a vendor’s systems’ operational effectiveness. It measures whether they meet certain trust principles — security, availability, process integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. The rigorous certification process includes three months of planning followed by six months of auditing and observation. “This nine month long journey is a major milestone in maturing our security and data privacy capabilities.” says MentorMate VP of Enterprise Architecture and CISO, David Tran. “With our SOC 2 Type II certification, we leverage our heightened internal security controls to further support our clients’ more demanding needs.” MentorMate’s clients span many industries, but a high percentage are in the healthcare and financial sector. For these clients, security and privacy aren’t just important; they’re critical. Tran says this certification benefits these clients in a couple of ways. “One is that they can feel assured that their SOC 2-compliant vendors are adhering to a higher standard and can build software of excellent quality, especially concerning security and data privacy,” he says. “And two, as the clients go through their own auditing processes, they can supply structured evidence more quickly and efficiently. This will drastically streamline their auditing process.” MentorMate’s SOC 2 certification report includes a detailed assessment of MentorMate’s security controls and processes.
