MentorMate Returns To Swedish Roots When MentorMate founder Björn Stansvik left his native Gothenburg for the U.S. to get his tech startup off the ground, he knew he’d eventually return home. Minneapolis, MN, & Gothenburg, SE, 02.06.2019 /PRNEWS/ — When MentorMate founder Björn Stansvik left his native Gothenburg for the U.S. to get his tech startup off the ground, he knew he’d eventually return home. Now, with a MentorMate office in Gothenburg’s stunning AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, he’s done just that. MentorMate began in 2001 as a single Palm Pilot application designed to help students learn a second language. In the years since then, MentorMate has grown into a custom software development powerhouse with its headquarters in Minneapolis, MN and five development hubs spread across Bulgaria. The Gothenburg office brings MentorMate’s global footprint to seven offices and over 450 technologists. “As MentorMate’s business grew and we made our mark in industries like healthcare, education, and finance, global expansion became more and more necessary to further our business development,” says Stansvik. “With our deep roots in Sweden, the prospect of a Gothenburg office not only made sense, but it also excited us. It feels great to be returning home.” It would appear that the feeling is mutual. When MentorMate first opened the Gothenburg office opened in late-2016, the company was awarded the key to the city. Starting with a modest approach of one full-time employee plus Stansvik, MentorMate has spent the last two years building relationships with Swedish companies. With that groundwork in place, the company is ramping up resources and staffing in Sweden with 2019 on track to be one of significant growth. Share Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn Share on Twitter
